Every counselor learns the same lesson in the first week: the dangerous part of camp is not the lake or the ropes course. It is the fifteen minutes after lights-out when twelve kids are wide awake and you have nothing planned. Would you rather is the fix. It needs no cards, no batteries, no flashlight, and it works exactly as well in a bunk as it does on a bus.
This list has 100 camp-themed questions, all clean, all counselor-tested in spirit: cabin life, campfire, lake day, the dining hall, bus rides, wild-card "camp superpowers," and a lightning round for when you need to fill three minutes fast. They are grouped by setting so you can grab the right set for where you are.
Run them straight off this page, or open the free Would You Rather game on a phone and let it draw questions and show the vote — the cabin loves seeing the numbers come in. Counselors: the tips section has a few rules that keep it from turning into a shouting match.
Why It Works So Well at Camp
Camp is full of kids who do not know each other yet and are pretending they are not nervous about it. Would you rather gives them something to disagree about that does not matter at all, which is exactly what a new group needs. Ten minutes of arguing about whether a bunk near the door is better than a bunk near the window, and a cabin has started to become a cabin.
It also scales. Two kids on a dock can play it. Eighty kids at an all-camp campfire can play it, with a counselor reading and everyone standing up for option A or staying seated for option B. The same question works at both sizes, and none of the questions need equipment, which matters when the equipment is a two-mile walk away.
How to Run It With a Whole Cabin
Stand or sit. Read a question. Option A stands, option B stays seated. Count out loud. The minority has to explain themselves. This version is fast, loud, and perfect for the bunkhouse because nobody has to talk over anyone.
The line-up. For a bus or a field, make a line down the middle. Option A goes left, option B goes right. Kids will physically run to their side, which burns exactly the energy you want burned before dinner.
Counselor's choice. Pick one question per night and let the cabin argue until quiet hours. Best used with the campfire and wild-card sets — those produce the arguments that end in laughing instead of yelling.
100 Would You Rather Questions for Camp, in 7 Sets
Every question is clean and works for ages eight and up. The dining hall and lightning sets are the easiest for younger cabins; the campfire and wild-card sets are the ones older campers ask to repeat.

Counselor Tips
Set the one rule before you start: you can argue for your side, but you cannot argue that the other side is dumb. That single rule keeps the game from tipping into teasing, especially in the first week when kids are still figuring out where they stand.
Let the quiet kid read. Being the one who holds the list is a small power, and handing it to the camper who has not said much all day changes their week. Rotate readers every five questions.
Keep a cabin favorites list. Write down the questions that caused the loudest argument. By the end of the session you will have your own custom set, and the cabin will want it read one more time on the last night.

Eight and up. Everything is clean and nothing needs explaining. The wild-card set works best with older campers who enjoy a longer argument; the lightning round works for any age.
How do you play would you rather with a large group at camp?
Use stand-or-sit: read the question, option A stands, option B stays seated, then count. It works for a cabin of twelve or an all-camp campfire of a hundred, and nobody has to talk over anyone.
Can we play this on the camp bus?
Yes — the bus set was written for it. Have one counselor read from the front and let each row shout its answer. Keep a tally on the window with a dry-erase marker if you have one.
Do we need phones or printouts?
No. Read from this page once on your phone, or memorize five and go. If the camp allows devices, the free online game draws questions and shows the vote, which campers like watching.
Are there questions for staff training or counselor bonding?
The wild-card and dining hall sets translate well to staff week — just add your own inside jokes. For a more work-focused version, the site also has team-building and icebreaker lists.
Can I use these for a day camp or a church camp?
Yes. There is nothing sleepaway-specific except the cabin set; day camps can skip it and use the rest. Everything is clean enough for a church youth group.
